The hollow polyethylene (PE) braid is a lightweight, floating and waterproof cord, specially designed for intensive outdoor use. UV-treated, it can be used and stored permanently in contact with sunlight and water without any loss of performance.
Flexible and durable over the long term, this braid is particularly appreciated in the nautical, fishing and industrial sectors. It is also suitable for many practical applications such as repairing fishing or aviary nets, palombières, floating lines, camping or site marking.
The orange version is mainly used for floating lines and buoys thanks to its high visibility.

What is the core of a braid?
The core of a braid is the cord located inside the cover, allowing the rope to be round and reinforced. Independent from the outer cover, it can be removed manually. The core can be braided or parallel.
- Parallel core: aligned yarns. Not spliceable.
- Braided core: braided yarns. A braid with a braided core is called a “double braid”. Spliceable.

Polyethylene is floating and hydrophobic. It can be in permanent contact with water without degrading. It is resistant to moisture.

Polyethylene fibre has good UV resistance but is still inferior to polyester and nylon.
For a better outdoor life, you must ensure that your polyethylene rope is treated against UV.
Polyethylene is resistant to mites, bacteria, strong alkalis (ammonia, soda) and bleaching agents.
It is sensitive to mineral, formic, concentrated acetic acids and certain phenols.
The polyethylene rope is the most sensitive synthetic rope to high heat.
